Armagh were made to come from behind to earn a 0-12 to 0-11 win over Louth in Round 1 of the Allianz Football League this evening.

This Division 2 opener at the Athletic Grounds saw the unfancied visitors racing into a 0-4 to 0-0 lead after 18 minutes thanks to the points of Paul Matthews, Ryan Burns, Ciaran Keenan and Dermot Campbell.

Kieran McGeeney’s side would eventually get the scoreboard rolling, but still went in at the interval trailing (0-5 to 0-4) and fell four points behind again after the change of ends.

Stefan Campbell’s point would be the first of six unanswered for the Orchard men after that, as they stormed in front prior to the scores of Ciaran Downey and marksman Sam Mulroy levelling matters for the Leinster side.

Conor Turbitt nailed the last two scores (one from a free) for the hosts ahead of another Downey point on the 70-minute mark making sure that Armagh had to hang on to earn the win in injury-time.
