Meath and Fermanagh played out a draw in their Allianz Football League Division 2 opener in Navan this afternoon.
It finished 0-12 to 1-9 at Pairc Tailteann, where Eoghan Frayne’s late point snatched a result for the hosts after a tense closing quarter.
The Tailteann Cup champions had been rocked by a brilliantly worked Sean Cassidy goal on the stroke of half-time that saw Fermanagh go in with a 1-5 to 0-5 lead.
Cassidy extended the Ernesiders’ lead to four early in the restart and, while Colm O’Rourke’s men would get back on level terms, it took a score from Adam O’Neill and Frayne’s fifth in the closing 10 minutes to secure them a point on opening weekend.
