Clare GAA is mourning the passing of Jackie O’Gorman, who was one of the greatest hurling defenders the county has ever produced.
The Cratloe clubman made his inter-county debut in 1967 and went on to represent the Banner with distinction over the next 12 years. He played in four Munster SHC finals, 1972, ’74, ’77 and ’78, and starred alongside the likes of Seamus Durack, Sean Stack and Ger Loughnane in the National League final wins over Kilkenny in ’77 and ’78.
He later served as a selector from 1981 to ’86. Jackie is survived by his wife Joan and daughters Mary, Angela, Jacqueline and Joanne. He will be laid to rest following Funeral Mass in Cratloe Church tomorrow.
