Long-serving Monaghan forward Kieran Hughes has brought the curtain down on his 14-year inter-county career.
The Scotstown clubman’s retirement comes after he had been plagued by hamstring and knee injuries in recent season. He won two Ulster SFC medals in 2013 and ’15, scoring three points in the former year as Monaghan defeated Donegal to end a 25-year wait for the Anglo-Celt Cup.
Hughes, whose brother Darren is on board with the Farney County for another season, will continue to line out for Scotstown, who reached the Ulster Club SFC final before Christmas.
"Kieran left an indelible mark on the game and his dedication and skill have inspired countless fans," Monaghan GAA said in a statement.
