Declan McLaughlin scored a hat-trick of goals as Galway blew Laois away with a 6-29 to 2-20 victory in Ballinasloe this afternoon to move into the Walsh Cup semi-finals.

McLaughlin’s first major would help Henry Shefflin’s side towards a 2-13 to 1-9 lead at the break and, after the turnaround Jason Flynn, who finished with 1-9, McLaughlin (2) and Sarsfields' Alex Connaire (2) would all find the net for the hosts.

The Tribesmen are now set to face Dublin on Saturday for a place in the competition’s decider, with the capital men having handed Antrim a 2-31 to 1-20 defeat at Parnell Park earlier today.

Micheál Donoghue’s charges had 14 different scores over the 70 minutes, including Diarmaid Ó Dúlaing and Chris Crummey who lashed in their goals in either half.

Meanwhile, Wexford will play Kilkenny in the other semi-final after scoring a 3-20 to 0-19 win against Carlow at Chadwicks Wexford Park.

Lee Chin hit two first-half goals (one from the penalty spot) as the Slaneysiders led by 2-8 to 0-7 at the half and Jack Doran would get their third goal as a 10-point margin separated the sides in the end.
