Donegal will meet Derry in next Saturday’s Dr McKenna Cup final after hitting Monaghan for four goals in Castleblayney this afternoon.

It finished 4-14 to 0-11 in favour of Jim McGuinness’s side, as Oisin Gallen’s goal inside two minutes gave them the perfect start against the Farney men.

A couple of Jamie Brennan points upped the visitors’ advantage and more goals from Odhran Doherty and Gallen (penalty) saw them towards an unassailable 3-9 to 0-3 lead.

Monaghan sent over a couple of Stephen Mooney frees early in the restart, but their opponents put a stamp on the victory with a Ronan Frain goal midway through the second-half.

The margin would be 15 points in the end as Jim McGuinness’s charges now look forward to a showdown with Mickey Harte’s Derry side in six days’ time.
