Tullogher Rosbercon (Kilkenny) are All-Ireland club junior hurling champions after brushing aside St Catherine's (Cork) with a 2-21 to 1-13 victory at Croke Park this evening.
The Kilkenny and Leinster champions made the dream start to the decider at headquarters and never looked back, with Marty Murphy racing through and lashing in their opening goal just two minutes in.
From there, the would-be winners raced 1-6 to 0-3 ahead and they’d deal another blow to their Cork counterparts on 15 minutes when Walter Walsh hit the net.
Cian O’Donoghue (3), Murphy, and Walsh were among the point scorers after that to open up a 13-point advantage for Tullogher Rosbercon, before scores from Eoin Davis and Sean O’Donoghue at the other end left it at 2-14 to 0-9 come the half.
St Catherine’s stopped the barrage of points sailing over their crossbar after the turnaround and, in the end, a superbly taken goal by Rory Galvin with three minutes to go would prove only consolation for them as their Kilkenny opponents stormed to the title.
