Lowry nets hat-trick as Dubs set-up O'Byrne Cup final date against Longford

Dublin will play holders Longford in next weekend’s O’Byrne Cup final after handing Wexford a 5-17 to 1-11 defeat at Parnell Park this afternoon.

Sean Lowry (2) and Luke Breathnach netted the hosts’ first-half goals as they took in a 3-6 to 1-6 lead at the break, with Cathal Walsh having pulled back a major for the Slaneysiders late in the half.

Niall Scully and Killian McGinnis added points for the All-Ireland champions after the change of ends and further goals via Scully and Lowry ensured a comfortable victory for them in the end.

Dessie Farrell’s men are now set to meet Longford in the competition’s decider next Saturday (3pm), with the Midlanders having edged out Meath by 2-14 to 1-14 in Ashbourne last night.

Meanwhile, Wicklow will face Louth in the O’Byrne Cup Shield final after both sides came through their respective semi-finals earlier today.

JP Nolan netted a 20th minute goal as Wicklow saw off Laois by 1-20 to 0-12 in Rathnew, while Kiki Keenan and Ryan Burns raised the decisive green flags in Kinnegad as Louth overcame Westmeath by 2-12 to 0-12.
