This afternoon’s Walsh Cup second round clash between Offaly and Galway was called off with 15 minutes of normal time left to play as a result of dense fog at O’Connor Park, Tullamore.

Henry Shefflin’s Galway side had been leading the game 4-15 to 1-11 when officials took the decision to halt proceedings due to the lack of visibility for both teams.

Jason Flynn had netted the Tribesmen’s fourth goal from the penalty spot three minutes before the match was stopped.

Galway GAA tweeted the following soon afterwards: “All over in Tullamore in Walsh Cup. Credit both teams and match officials who battled through non ideal weather conditions!

"Game abandoned after 55 mins due to weather so decision to be taken by Leinster to confirm if result stands."
