Cullyhanna (Armagh) will face Cill na Martra (Cork) in Sunday week’s All-Ireland club intermediate football championship final after both sides battled through their respective semi-finals today.

In the end, it was Ross McQuillan’s goal just 15 seconds into the restart that proved key for as they saw off Kildare’s Allenwood by 1-11 to 0-11 in Navan.

The Armagh champions held a slender 0-5 to 0-4 lead at the end of the first-half before McQuillan’s goal and Aidan Nugent’s point saw them up by five. Former Kildare star Johnny Doyle and Billy Maher notched scores that helped to reduce the gap to two for Allenwood, but they couldn’t get the goal they needed as Cullyhanna marched on towards Sunday week’s final at Croke Park (3.30pm).

The Orchard men will face Cill na Martra in the decider after the Cork champions edged Castlerea St Kevin’s of Roscommon by 2-10 to 0-15 at O’Moore Park, Portlaoise.

The Muskerry club hit two goals early in the second-half to get themselves over the line after the sides had gone in level on 0-6 apiece at the break.

Castlerea were 0-9 to 0-8 in front when Micheál Ó Deasúna smashed to their net on 39 minutes and seconds later the Daniel Ó Duinnín raised the umpire’s green flag to turn the game on its head.

Darren McDermott struck a point in response to try and lead the Castlerea fightback, but they finished one short in the end as the Rebel County champions marched on.
