Dublin edged out Offaly this afternoon to book their place into the semi-finals of the O’Byrne Cup.

It finished 0-11 to 0-10 at Gracefield, where Ethan Dunne, Brian O’Leary and Shane O’Leary landed three of the last four points to see Dessie Farrell’s men through.

The points of Ruairi McNamee, Dylan Hyland and Kevin McDermott had helped Offaly to lead by 0-6 to 0-2 at the halfway stage, but their capital counterparts stayed with them before timing their finish to perfection for a last four berth.

In Pearse Park, defending champions Longford held on against Westmeath to record a 0-9 to 0-7 win over their neighbours to advance.

The home side led by the minimum (0-5 to 0-4) at the halfway stage and pushed on after the turnaround to book a semi-final date against Meath who defeated Louth by 2-13 to 1-7 in Ashbourne.

Meanwhile, Wexford made their goals count to see off Kildare on a 3-9 to 1-14 scoreline at Chadwicks Wexford Park.

Cian Hughes, Ben Brosnan and Paraic Hughes supplied the majors for the hosts that sees them through to a last four showdown against Dublin at Parnell Park in seven days’ time.

At the Bray Emmets grounds, Brian Nesbitt fired in the decisive goal as Wicklow overcame Carlow by 1-12 to 0-13 in the competition’s Shield quarter-final.
