Arva (Cavan) and Listowel Emmets (Kerry) will battle it out at Croke Park next weekend for the right to be crowned All-Ireland club junior football champions.
Both sides comfortably came through their respective semi-finals this afternoon, with Arva handing Kildare counterparts Milltown a 2-16 to 1-7 defeat in The Downs, Mullingar.
The Cavan champions had raced into a 0-6 to 0-3 lead before Kevin Bouchier’s brilliant pass found Barry Donnelly’s run in behind for the latter to smash to the net.
It saw Finbar O’Reilly’s men towards a 1-8 to 0-4 advantage at the interval and, while Milltown pulled back a fortuitous goal that saw the ball fumbled over the Arva goal line eight minutes into the restart, points from Bouchier (3), Jonathan McCabe and Donnelly pushed the favourites further clear ahead of Paul Finnegan netting their second goal in the late stages.
In Tullamore, Listowel Emmets had it all their own way as they saw off Mayo’s Lahardane MacHales by 1-11 to 0-3 to earn their final berth.
Bryan Sweeney’s goal had the Kerry men up by 1-4 to 0-0 after 19 minutes and the frees of David Keane would help them into a double figures lead come half-time.
Sweeney, Keane and Darragh Lynch kept the points flowing for the leaders after the turnaround as they now get set for a showdown with the Ulster champions tomorrow week (1.30pm).
