Kilkenny All-Ireland winner John 'Jack' Kinsella passes away

Kilkenny GAA is mourning the passing of two-time All-Ireland SHC winner John ‘Jack’ Kinsella.

The Bennettsbridge man played senior hurling for the Cats between 1967 and ’73, lifting the Liam MacCarthy Cup in ’67 and ’72. He also won two Leinster SHC titles and three county SHC titles with his club.

Kinsella was also a talented musician who was a member of The Capri Showband with John Travers and Jimmy Larkin in the 1960s. He later worked as a radio presenter for KCR, Radio Kilkenny and KCLR, and was also involved with Cairdeas, the Kilkenny Parkinson’s Choir.

Paying tribute to John, Kilkenny GAA said: “Kilkenny GAA would like to extend its sympathies to John’s wife Sheila, children Jackie, Gerri, Owena and Daniel, sister Moira, grandchildren and extended family.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
