Conor Glass says Glen are looking forward to renewing their rivalry with Kilmacud Crokes early in the New Year.

The teams will face off in a mouth-watering All-Ireland Club SFC semi-final on January 6, almost a year after Crokes controversially defeated Glen in the Andy Merrigan Cup decider with a 16th player on the pitch.

The CCCC ordered a replay nine days after the final before Glen withdrew their appeal against the result.

"It's a long way back. We started back with Glen in June and July and it's a long process. We can only take it one step at a time but our sole focus was getting back to an All-Ireland final,” Glass told RTÉ’s Marty Morrissey after Glen retained their Ulster Club SFC title.

"That's as blunt as it was. We're in a position to do so and we'll give it a good crack.

"We obviously knew that the Ulster champions play the Leinster champions, so we knew that would be an eventuality. Our focus was on Scotstown. But now it's purely on Kilmacud. They're a fantastic team, they're going for two-in-a-row."

The Derry midfielder added: "We'll be putting our best foot forward to go at them.

"It's a nice wee present before Christmas. But back to work after that and our sole focus will be on Kilmacud."
