It was a case of third time lucky for Na Fianna who overwhelmed Ballyboden St Enda’s by 2-19 to 0-9 at Parnell Park to be crowned Dublin senior hurling champions for the first time.

After losing the last two finals to Kilmacud Crokes, the Mobhi Road outfit made no mistake this time with a clinical display. The Currie brothers, Sean and Colin, scored 2-15 between them, with both goals coming late in the first half from the former. It could have been three had Colin’s 17th minute penalty not being saved by ‘Boden goalkeeper Conor O’Donoghue.

Na Fianna had one hand on the cup when they led by 2-10 to 0-6 at the interval. ‘Boden could only manage three points in the second half and finished with 14 players after Timmy Hammersley was sent off 10 minutes from the end.

As for Na Fianna, there was no stopping them as late points from substitutes Sean Baxter and Gavin as well as Ciaran Stacey underlined their superiority.
