Cushendall claimed their first Antrim senior hurling championship title in five years thanks to a 1-20 to 1-19 victory over Loughgiel Shamrocks at Corrigan Park this afternoon.
The victors survived a late rally that saw James McNaughton lashing in a late goal that brought Loughgiel back within a point, but they couldn’t force extra time in west Belfast.
Fergus McCambridge’s sixth minute goal put Cushendall into a 1-1 to 0-3 lead and they'd go in leading at half-time by 1-11 to 0-9.
The lead would be extended to six after the turnaround and, despite trailing by five with two minutes left in normal time, Loughgiel were able to get it down to one in the added minutes but Cushendall still held on for the win and their 15th SHC triumph.
