Clonguish are aiming to complete a Longford SFC and SHC double on Sunday.

Having already retained their hurling crown with a 2-14 to 1-14 victory over Longford Slashers last month, the Newtownforbes outfit now have their sights set on lifting the Connolly Cup for the first time since 2009 at the expense of local rivals Killoe Emmet Óg. Their first SFC final appearance since 2011 has come as a surprise to many, despite their recent dominance of the Longford underage scene. This year, they’ve completed a clean sweep of county U14, U16 and minor ‘A’ successes.

Clonguish needed extra-time to get past Dromard in the semi-final, while they knocked out former Leinster kingpins Mullinalaghta before that. In the other semi-final, Luke Dempsey’s Killoe were comfortable winners over Colmcille and go into the Glennon Brothers Pearse Park decider as favourites.
