Kilmacud Crokes stayed on course for a third consecutive Dublin senior football championship crown after edging Raheny in a penalty shoot-out (5-4) at Parnell Park.

This thrilling semi-final clash finished all square on 2-15 apiece after extra time and it was Shane Horan that slotted the winning penalty for the All-Ireland champions to keep their three-in-a-row hopes in the capital intact.

Raheny had led by 0-7 to 0-5 at the end of a tight first-half and went three up early in the restart before Hugh Kenny’s palmed goal squared things for Crokes.

Raheny kicked on though and a Darren Lunney penalty would help them to hold a three-point lead in injury-time but they couldn’t hold on to it, as substitute Luke Ward smashed in a goal that sent the game into extra time (2-11 to 1-14) for the Stillorgan outfit.

Crokes kicked the first three points of extra time only to see them cancelled out by a Cian Ivers goal and, after Crokes nudged themselves in front again, it was a Lunney point that forced penalties.

In the end, it was this strike from Horan that sealed the holders’ final date with either Ballyboden or St Jude's in two weeks’ time.
