Brendan Rogers struck a hat-trick of goals as Slaughtneil cruised to a 3-23 to 1-8 win over Kevin Lynch’s in Owenbeg to earn an 11th consecutive Derry senior hurling championship title.

The holders were dominant from the throw-in, running up a 0-10 to nothing lead before going on to lead by a dozen points at the interval.

Dual star Rogers hammered in his first goal after five minutes of the restart and he’d fire in another on 40 minutes to stretch the margin to 19.

The trailers would pull a goal back with 13 minutes to go but it was erased almost immediately by Rogers third which had the scoreboard reading 3-17 to 1-5.

Jack Cassidy, Cormac O’Doherty (3) and Ruairí Ó Mianáin kept the points coming until the last whistle, leaving Slaughtneil with an 11th straight title and Ulster final date against either the Antrim or Down champions to look forward to.
