Mark Fitzgerald is set to lead a new era in Clare after being appointed as the county’s new senior football manager.

The Kerins O’Rahillys clubman was officially ratified to the post by Clare county board on Tuesday night, succeeding Colm Collins who stepped down in June following 10 seasons in charge of the team.

It was confirmed on Tuesday night that Fitzgerald has been appointed to his new role on a two-year term, with Seanie Buckley set to serve as head coach in his backroom team.

Earlier this year, the Tralee native had been appointed as interim manager of Limerick’s senior footballers following the surprise decision of Ray Dempsey to step down in March after five months in charge of the Treaty men.
