The countdown is on to Sunday’s Wexford SHC final between Naomh Eanna and surprise packets Oylegate-Glenbrien.

Chadwick’s Wexford Park will host the novel showpiece game, which will be shown live on TG4, at 4pm. In last weekend’s semi-finals, Naomh Eanna edged out St Martin’s by 1-14 to 0-15, while Oylegate-Glenbrien qualified for their first final in 60 years with a 2-21 to 2-14 victory over 13-man St Anne’s.

Late points from Jack Doran and Jack Cullen saw Naomh Eanna past St Martin’s after the Gorey men had trailed by 1-3 to 0-10 at half-time. In the other semi-final, Seamus Casey and former county player Podge Doran both raised green flags as Oylegate-Glenbrien overcame a St Anne’s team who had Darragh Furlong and county star Liam Óg McGovern sent off in either half.

Meanwhile, it was the end of an era for the once-mighty Rathnure who were relegated from the senior ranks for the first time in their history following a 1-22 to 3-21 playoff loss to Glynn-Barntown.
