Dublin boss Dessie Farrell says his players demonstrated character “in abundance” to get over the line in today’s All-Ireland final against Kerry.

The Dubs recovered from a sucker-punch goal before half-time with a goal of their own via Paddy Small in the 46th minute before falling behind by three points again in the final quarter.

With the sides level at 1-13 in injury-time, points from Paul Mannion and Dean Rock (free) steered Farrell’s men to their county’s first Sam Maguire Cup success in three years and 31st overall.

"It's amazing. It's immense," the Dublin manager told RTE Sport afterwards.

"I've learned so much about character and what that actually means. A lot of people talk about it but we saw it in abundance today.

"I'm delighted for the players and their families, their partners, their wives. Huge commitment, huge sacrifice and they showed great character today.

"It was all about guts and character and they stood up to the test when it counted. They're that type of men, they'll always respond."
