Pádraic Mannion didn't lose much sleep over his part in Kilkenny's last-second winning goal in last Sunday's Leinster SHC final.
After watching a video on the bus home of his kicked clearance which led to Cillian Buckley firing home the most dramatic of winners, the three-time Galway All-Star came to the conclusion that he couldn't have done much else, especially as he had lost his hurl.
“I could see a Kilkenny player in my left eyeline and I didn’t really want to kick it towards him, so I just said I would kick it as far as I could,” he told reporters at yesterday's launch of the All-Ireland SHC in the De La Salle club in Waterford.
“I couldn’t have connected any nicer with it and put it straight in Cillian Buckley’s hands. If I had scuffed it, maybe they wouldn’t have got a goal.
But that’s it like, I am old enough now to be able to take it and put a positive spin on it nearly to go again.
"It's just one of those things that happens."
