Galway will face holders Kilkenny in next month’s Leinster senior hurling championship final after coming back from the dead to draw with Dublin (1-25 to 2-22) at Croke Park this afternoon.

The Tribesmen trailed by as many as 12 points and also saw a Conor Cooney penalty saved in the second-half before completing their comeback to ensure a provincial final berth against the Cats.

Goals from Cian O’Sullivan and Danny Sutcliffe helped the capital men towards a commanding 2-16 to 0-12 lead at the halfway stage and points from Donal Burke (free) and Cian Boland would have it at double scores within five minutes of the restart.

Henry Shefflin’s side did eventually get motoring though and a Daithi Burke ignited the comeback after Dublin ‘keeper Sean Brennan had denied Cooney from the spot.

Evan Niland kept the points coming for Galway and his 10th in the fifth minute of injury-time would eventually give them the lead before opposing marksman Burke ensured that Micheál Donoghue’s charges weren’t to leave headquarters empty handed.

The results sees Galway return to the Bob O’Keeffe decider for the third time in four years, while Dublin finish third in the provincial table to advance to the All-Ireland series.
