Down had minimal fuss in claim their second Tailteann Cup win on the trot by handing Tipperary an emphatic 2-18 to 0-6 loss in Thurles this afternoon.
Pat Havern led the way for the Mourne men early on as he kicked five first-half points in total that helped them towards a 0-9 to 0-4 interval lead.
Any hopes of a Tipp fightback were dealt a decisive blow when a penalty awarded to them early in the second-half for a foul on Sean O’Connor was sent wide by Kevin Fahey.
Down hit the net through Shealan Johnston after that and substitute would hammer in their second Eamon Brown on 58 minutes to well and truly settle the issue.
The win guarantees Conor Laverty's men a place in the Tailteann Cup's knock-out stage ahead of their final round meeting with Meath in Navan in two weeks' time.
