Portumna’s Declan McLoughlin denied Kilkenny the points this afternoon as Galway got out of UPMC Nowlan Park with a 1-25 to 0-28 draw.
The hosts seemed to be cruising in this Leinster SHC second round showdown, despite Brian Concannon’s early goal for the Tribesmen, as they’d built up a five-point lead after the teams had been level at the break (0-16 to 1-13).
Billy Ryan, Martin Keogan and TJ Reid sailed over the scores that looked to have the holders on course for both points.
However, Henry Shefflin’s men fought back and got points from Evan Niland (2), Daithi Burke and Jason Flynn before championship debutant McLoughlin fired over this superb equaliser to earn his team a share of the spoils:
