Walsh fires Cork into Munster MHC final

April 26, 2023

Cork go straight through to the Munster MHC final.

Barry Walsh scored 0-9 as Cork defeated Limerick by 0-20 to 1-14 at the TUS Gaelic Grounds last evening to qualify directly for the Munster MHC final.

Limerick, on the other hand, have to be content with a semi-final against Clare which will determine who meets the Rebels on May 9.

Robert O'Farrell and Tadhg Boddy shot 0-5 between them to give the young Shannonsiders the slenderest of leads, 0-10 to 0-9, at the interval. Dara Ferland extended their advantage with a goal early in the second half, but the visitors hit back with scores from Conor McCarthy, Zack Biggane, subs Jayden Casey and Ronan Dooley, and the accurate Walsh to take the win.

Meanwhile, last year's All-Ireland champions Tipperary avoided the wooden spoon with a 1-20 to 1-12 victory over Waterford at FBD Semple Stadium.

In what was a dead-rubber affair, Stefan Tobin's early goal propelled Tipp to a 1-8 to 0-7 half-time lead. They surged further in front after the restart with six unanswered points before Conor Tobin grabbed a late consolation goal for the Deise, who finished bottom of the group.
