Four-time Kilkenny All-Ireland SHC winning corner back Paul Murphy has called on the GAA to take strong action after Lee Chin was racially abused during a challenge match between Wexford and Tipperary in Carrick-on-Suir on Saturday.
Video footage of a supporter aiming abuse at the Wexford star during the closing stages of the game has been widely viewed on social media. The referee subsequently abandoned the game as Wexford players angrily confronted the spectator in question.
Both Tipperary and Wexford GAA have launched separate investigations into the incident which has been condemned by Murphy and Wexford camogie legend Ursula Jacob among others.
Lee Chin is an incredible hurler and a role model for thousands of young people. He's paved the way for endless number of young players to play the game they love. Zero tolerance for what happened this wkend. Credit to Wexford players for calling it out while showing restraint.

.@LeeChin8 is not just one of Wexford's all time greats but also one of Ireland's all time great hurlers who has nothing to prove to anyone. More importantly Lee is a lovely human being that does not deserve to have racial slurs thrown at him #NoToRacism pic.twitter.com/vVfRPoUuoj
