Laois will face Dublin in the quarter-finals of the Leinster senior football championship in two weeks’ time after seeing off Wexford by 2-17 to 2-13 in Portlaoise this afternoon.

Mark Barry’s 2-4 contribution over the 70 minutes proved decisive for the O’Moore men as they overcame a plucky display from the Slaneysiders.

A goal from Robbie Brooks and late points in the half from Kevin O’Grady and Ben Brosnan was what saw the visitors take in a 1-8 to 1-7 lead at break.

Laois regained the lead in the third quarter and Evan O’Carroll’s point surged them four clear before Brosnan found their net with a penalty which he had earned himself.

However, another Barry goal four minutes later marked the perfect response from Laois and him and O’Carroll wound send over the points late on that ensure the win.
