Monaghan started their Ulster U20 football championship campaign winning fashion on Saturday by edging out Armagh 0-9 to 0-7 at St Tiernach’s Park, Clones.
After an airtight battle, it was points from Dylan McConnell and Stephen Mooney down the home stretched that swung this derby encounter in the Farney lads’ favour.
Armagh had led by the odd point in nine at the halfway stage and Brendan O’Hagan had then two in front early in the restart ahead of Cian Conlon firing over scores at the other end that nudged Monaghan ahead.
The visitors would level through Aaron O'Neill's free before McConnell and Mooney raised white flags in the closing five minutes to cement the win for Monaghan.
