Eoghan Cahill struck for 0-13 as Offaly saw off Kerry in Tullamore this afternoon to book their place in the Allianz Hurling League Division 2A final alongside Kildare.
It finished 0-23 to 0-19 at Glenisk O’Connor Park, where hosts had trailed by three at the halfway stage despite their Kingdom counterparts registering a dozen wides in the first 35 minutes.
Podge Boyle and Shane Conway had been the Faithful men’s chief tormentors during the opening half, but Offaly hit their stride in the closing quarter as Charlie Mitchell, Adrian Cleary, Paddy Clancy and Jason Sampson all raised white flags that turned the game in their favour.
Boyle and Brandon Barrett responded with points for the Munster men ahead of Cahill helping seal the home side’s win with a couple of frees at the other end.
Offaly now get set for a rematch with Kildare in the league final, having played out a 2-17 to 0-23 draw with the Lilywhites last weekend.
