Cork were made to come from behind to edge out Wexford by 2-14 to 0-18 at Pairc Ui Chaoimh and cement their place in the Allianz Hurling League Division 1 semi-finals.

Cormac Beausang’s goal in the second minute of injury-time (watch it below) ultimately made the difference for the Rebels as they secured their fourth successive win of the campaign to advance into the knock-out stages.

Looking for a response after shipping 6-25 to Clare last time out, Wexford had started brilliantly in this fourth-round encounter as points from Conor McDonald, Charlie McGuckin and Lee Chin helped them towards a 0-6 to nothing lead.

Pat Ryan’s men didn’t get up and running until the 20th minute via a Shane Kingston free and they went in at the interval trailing 0-10 to 0-6.

The Slaneysiders extended their lead to six early in the resumption but Padraig Power’s goal on 44 minutes turned the game for the Leesiders and they’d eventually get it level through Jack O’Connor’s point with a minute left in regulation.

Wexford looked to hang on but Midleton’s Beausang made the most of a high ball into the square by finishing it low to the net to ensure both points for the hosts.
