Cork and Louth each secured their third wins in Division 2 of the Allianz Football League this afternoon.

The Rebels proved too strong for Clare in the second-half in Ennis, where they hit the hosts for three goals on their way to a 3-10 to 1-8 victory.

Sean Powter’s goal looked to have marked the perfect start for John Cleary’s charges, but it was cancelled out on 13 minutes by Keelan Sexton’s expertly taken penalty and, from there, the Banner men went on to take in a 1-4 to 1-3 lead at the half.

The visitors hit the first two points of the resumption and fired in their second goal via Matthew Taylor before Powter’s second major left Clare with a mountain to try and scale in the closing 10 minutes.

In Ardee, Louth made their goals count in a 2-11 to 0-12 win over struggling Kildare.

Niall Sharkey had pointed Mickey Harte’s men in front after six minutes and they’d land their first hammer blow two minutes later when Tommy Durnin fired to the Lilywhites’ net.

With Louth marksman Sam Mulroy off injured, the visitors did get back within a point on the half-hour mark but Louth netted again in the second minute of added time via Conor Grimes and went on to take in a 2-6 to 0-7 half-time lead.

Glenn Ryan’s men couldn’t close the gap lower than three points after the turnaround as the Wee County inflicted them with their fourth loss of the campaign.

Colm O’Rourke’s Meath side avoided their third defeat as they came from behind to earn a 0-17 to 2-11 draw against Limerick at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

The Treaty men had been full value for their 0-10 to 0-6 lead at the halfway stage before Jordan Morris set-up Matthew Costello for a sorely needed Royals’ goal nine minutes into the restart.

The hosts lost their lead and took it back ahead of Donal Lenihan netting the Leinster side’s second goal after having just been introduced to the fray by O’Rourke.

Davy Lyons’ point helped Ray Dempsey’s charges get on level terms again before Morris nudged Meath back in front and Brian Donovan landed the equaliser with a minute left in regulation.
