Morrissey stars as Limerick hold off late Tribe rally

Limerick put together a dominant first-half display to help see of Galway by 0-24 to 0-19 in Salthill and claim their second win of the Allianz Hurling League campaign.

Tom Morrisey (0-8) was in outstanding form for the All-Ireland champions throughout while stars Cian Lynch and Kyle Hayes both contributes three points each in the win.

Lynch, Morrissey and Peter Casey all pucked scores which saw the visitors into a 0-5 to 0-2 lead and, while Henry Shefflin’s men responded through Tom Monaghan and Conor Cooney, it was the Munster men that cut loose.

Micheal Houlihan, Casey and Morrissey added points as the Treaty men raced towards a 0-14 to 0-7 half-time advantage and they’d stretch the lead after the turnaround.

The Tribesmen came with push in the closing quarter that saw them landing seven unaswered points in front of their home support, with Cooney nailing five of them, but Morrisey steadied the ship for Limerick with a free before Donnacha O' Dalaigh rounded off their tally.
