Waterford and Kilkenny secured their second wins in the Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League this afternoon after overcoming Antrim and Laois, respectively.

The Deise men were made fight to the finish to see off Antrim by 1-22 to 0-17 at Fraher Field, where the visitors had led by 0-11 to 0-9 at the halfway stage.

Davy Fitzgerald’s men got themselves on level terms after the resumption, as Patrick Curran hammered a penalty to the Glensmen’s net, but the visitors responded well with Conal Cunning (0-11) leading their attack.

The scoreboard read 1-13 to 0-16 before the Munster men cut loose with five unaswered points to bag the victory.

In Portlaoise, Derek Lyng’s Kilkenny side were more comfortable in a 0-34 to 1-18 win over bottom-placed Laois.

Having lost out to Tipperary the last day, the Cats had Eoin Cody back in their pack and hit the ground running to take in a commanding 0-21 to 0-7 lead at the half.

Martin Phelan lashed in a sorely needed Laois goal early in the restart but it never troubled the Leinster champions, as Billy Drennan (0-11), Martin Keoghan and Cody helped point them to the comfortable win.
