Second-half goals from Conor Bowe and Jason Forde proved vital as Tipperary overcame Dublin by 2-23 to 0-24 at Croke Park to secure their third successive win in Division 1 Group by of the Allianz Hurling League.

In what was a cracking third round encounter at headquarters, it was Tipp that carried in a 0-14 to0-13 lead at the halfway stage thanks to a couple of frees from marksman Forde.

Jake Morris and Forde sailed over the first two points of the resumption before Chris O’Leary sailed over a sweet score at the other end and narrowed the Dubs’ deficit to two.

A minute later and the sliotar would be in the capital men’s net thanks to Bowe’s neat finish and Tipp would be six to the good once Forde did likewise some 10 minutes later.

It left Micheál Donoghue’s men with a task on their hands to try and avoid their first defeat of the campaign and, despite the points of Donal Burke (2), Sean Currie, Joe Flanagan and Paul Crummey, they’d fall five short in the end.
