Cork maintained their 100% start in the Allianz Hurling League by seeing off Galway with a 4-24 to 3-22 victory in Salthill this afternoon.

Pat Ryan’s men fired in two goals early in the second-half on their way towards running up an 11-point lead against the hosts whom cut back to four but couldn’t find the net again.

Conor Lehane netted the game’s first goal after eight minutes but Galway responded well after that, grabbing a goal through Kevin Cooney as the sides eventually went in level at the break on 1-13 apiece.

The visitors broke loose early in the restart though, with Sean Twomey and Lehane netting goals and points via Shane Kingston, Shane Barrett and Lehane had them leading 3-16 to 1-12.

Twomey would get his second goal late on and the game looked up for Henry Shefflin’s charges until Martin McManus found the Cork net and sub Brian Concannon would net another before winning a penalty which Cooney saw saved by Patrick Collins that sealed the point for the Leesiders.
