Ciaran Guinan’s injury-time point saw Monaghan edge Armagh by 2-17 to 0-22 in the Athletic Grounds to move top of the Allianz Hurling League Division 3A table.

Fergal Rafter’s first minute penalty marked the perfect start for the Farney men but the points of Nathan Curry and Fionntan Donnelly helped Armagh to lead by 0-16 to 1-8 come half-time.

Thomas Hughes (2) and Rafter (free) had the visitors level within 10 minutes of the resumption and they’d hit the jackpot in the closing stages of regulation through Stephen Lambe’s goal, which made it 2-16 to 0-21.

Rory Shin’s point looked to have secured the Orchard men a share of the spoils but Guinan came up trumps for Monaghan at the finish to clinch their second win in as many weeks.
