Roscommon secured their second victory in as many weeks in Division 1 of the Allianz Football League thanks to substitute Richard Hughes’ injury-time winner against Galway.
It finished 0-9 to 0-8 in favour of the Rossies at Pearse Stadium, where Hughes proved the hero for the visitors as they turned around a four-point deficit in the closing 20 minutes in Salthill.
Points from Dylan McHugh and Cillian McDaid helped Galway to lead by 0-5 to 0-3 at the half and they’d be four to the good once Ian Burke sailed over.
Backing up their impressive win over Tyrone last weekend, Davy Burke’s men battled to the end and got points via Ben O’Carroll (2) and Ciaráin Murtagh before Diarmuid Murtagh sailed over the leveller on 66 minutes.
Hughes landed the winner in the fourth minute of injury-time to draw a mighty road from the visiting support.
