Roscommon made their goals count to stun Tyrone with a 3-11 to 1-12 win at Dr Hyde Park and get their topflight campaign off to a flyer.
Having led by 0-8 to 0-5 at the end of the first-half, the Rossies would rocked by a Kieran McGeary goal which saw their advantage wiped away after having the win at their backs for the opening 35 minutes.
Darren McCurry would put three between the teams but missed a goal chance afterwards and it opened the door for the hosts as they found the net through Ciaráin Murtagh and he’d sail over to level matters heading for the closing quarter.
Five minutes later and the ball would be in the Red Hands net again – this time Ben O’Connor raced away in space and after a shot deflected off Diarmuid Murtagh and Tyrone's Conor Meyley, the umpire’s green flag was raised.
‘Man of the Match’ O’Carroll would settle the issue for Davy Burke’s men in the last minute when made the most the most of his side’s breakaway to tuck the ball away for three more points.
