Cork booked their place into the McGrath Cup final with a 2-10 to 0-8 win over Clare in Quilty this afternoon.

Steven Sherlock and Chris Og Jones bagged the goals in the game’s closing quarter to ensure the Rebels’ place in the competition’s decider against Limerick this Wednesday evening (7pm).

Having led by 0-6 to 0-3 at the halfway stage, John Cleary’s men struck the first significant blow on 52 minutes when Steven Sherlock was set-up by Chris Og Jones to rattle the Banner men’s net.

Jones then raised the green flag himself some 15 minutes after by firing in a superb finish past David Sexton after the Clare ‘keeper had denied Rory Maguire beforehand.

The Leesiders now get set bid for their 10th success in this competition in midweek against Ray Dempsey’s Limerick side whose draw with Tipperary yesterday was enough to progress through to the decider.
