Offaly are through to the last four of the O’Byrne Cup after seeing off Dublin by 0-11 to 0-8 at Parnell Park last night.
Liam Kearns’ side finished in strong fashion to continue their winning record under the manager and set-up a semi-final showdown with Louth in Dowdallshill this Sunday (2pm).
Having led by 0-5 to 0-3 at the halfway stage, the Faithful men extended their lead early in the restart via top-scorer Dylan Hyland sending over his fourth point of the contest.
Greg McEneaney and Colm Baquel pulled back scores for the holders but they wouldn’t get level and singles from Anton Sullivan, Nigel Dunne and sub Bernard Allen were enough to see Offaly through with the three-point victory.
In Ashbourne, Meath played out their second draw in four days after finishing all square with Longford (1-7 to 0-10).
Donal Lenihan’s early goal did not deter the visitors as they kicked on for a 0-6 to 1-2 lead at the half and points in the closing stages from Darren Gallagher and Daniel Mimnagh were enough to secure a share of the points and a final place against either Louth or Offaly on Friday week.
