Liam Cahill got his first win as Tipperary manager this afternoon as his side overcame Clare by 2-22 to 0-20 in Nenagh.

After having lost out to Davy Fitzgerald's Waterford in their season opener in the Munster SHL last Tuesday, goals from Sean Ryan and Jason Forde helped propel Tipp to victory at McDonagh Park.

It was Clare that had made the better start to this encounter as the scores of Mark Rodgers, Robin Mounsey, and Peter Duggan helped them to lead by 0-8 to 0-5, but Ryan’s goal off a superb pass from Alan Tynan saw the Premier men into the lead.

The sides would be level come half-time (1-10 to 0-13) but the frees of Gearoid O’Connor surged Cahill’s men back in front and, after seeing his first penalty tipped over by Eamonn Foudy in the Clare goal, Tipp sub Jason Forde made no mistake when Jake Morris earned a second for him to convert.

Barry Hogan saved a late shot on goal from Aron Shanagher as Tipp claimed the points and their first win their league victory over Antrim last March.
