Keelan Molloy’s sensational goal proved crucial as Dunloy Cuchullains overcame St Thomas by 1-14 to 0-13 at Croke Park this afternoon to advance to the All-Ireland club senior hurling championship final.

The Antrim star struck the decisive score midway through the second-half, with a delightful flick which took him away from three St Thomas’ opponents and he raced away before making no mistake with the finish.

It was the Galway champions that had been favourites coming into this last four clash at headquarters, but their opponents matched them during the opening period and it saw the sides going in level at the break on 0-6 apiece.

Dunloy were the better side during the third quarter and it saw them opening up a three-point lead prior to Molloy’s wonder strike on 45 minutes.

Conal Cunning (0-7) had led the way in the scoring stakes for the Ulster side but St Thomas kept the heat on them until the finish, closing the margin down to two points at one stage.

However, Conal Cunning and then Eamon Smith would land the insurance points for Dunloy late on as they now look forward to an All-Ireland final date with either holders Ballygunner or Ballyhale Shamrocks in a month’s time.
