Bray Emmets are Leinster club intermediate hurling champions after seeing off Trim (Meath) by 0-17 to 0-11 on home turf this afternoon.
After the game had been switched from Aughrim to Bray Emmets GAA grounds this morning, the home side made a scorching start in the freezing conditions to race 0-4 to 0-0 in front in the opening stages.
Mikey Boland and Christy Moorehouse grabbed a brace of points each before Alan Douglas got the Meath champions off the mark and David Murtagh would double their tally.
Jamie Murray (free) reduced the deficit to one for Trim and, from there, the sides traded points that saw Bray going in with the slenderest of leads at half-time (0-9 to 0-8).
Murray launched over a ‘65’ early in the restart and Moorehouse extended the hosts’ advantage prior to points from Pa Ryan and James Andrew at the other end.
However, Trim wouldn’t score again after that as Moorehouse sailed over a hat-trick of points and Boland raised another white flag to secure the Wicklow champions’ sweet Leinster success.
