Former Meath giants Navan O’Mahonys will be playing their championship football in the intermediate ranks next season after suffering relegation at the hands of Seneschalstown last night.
It finished 4-9 to 3-7 in Ashbourne, where the victors built up a hugely commanding 4-3 to 0-1 lead after 20 minutes.
O’Mahonys battled back to grab two goals before half-time but, despite three of their players being sent off after the turnaround, Seneschalstown were able to hold out for the five-point win which cements their senior status for next season.
2023 is now set to mark the first time in two decades that the Royal County's football kingpins will play in the intermediate championship.
