There were dramatic late scene in the Tyrone senior football championship this afternoon as Carrickmore snatched a late victory over Loughmacrory to advance to the competition semi-finals.
With time almost up, Carrickmore goalkeeper Jack McCallan sailed over a superbly struck ‘45’ to give his team the 0-10 to 0-9 win in Pomeroy.
The game itself was a tight battle throughout and it was points from Martin Penrose and Ruair Slane that saw Carrickmore take in at 0-6 to 0-4 lead at half-time.
The winners did open up a four-point lead after the restart but scores from Cathal Donaghy, Gareth Donaghy and Pauric Meenagh (2) had Loughmacrory a minute shy of the hour mark.
Lorcan McGarrity and Meenagh traded injury-time scores that looked to have the game headed for extra time but McCallan sent over the winner to break Loughmacrory hearts.
Earlier in the day, Clonoe booked their place in the last four by defeating Donaghmore St Patrick's in a 1-9 to 0-10 scoreline in Edendork.
Danny McNulty’s punched goal on 46 minutes proved crucial for the 2013 champions as they stayed on course for their ninth ever O’Neill Cup success.
