Reigning All-Ireland champions Kilcoo are through to their 11th consecutive Down SFC final after comfortably seeing off Mayobridge's challenge in yesterday's semi-final at Páirc Esler.
Conleith Gilligan's charges led by 0-3 to 0-1 at the end of a dour first half before the game opened up somewhat in the second half when points from Darryl Branagan and Ryan Johnston were followed by the clinching goal from Eugene Branagan after Mayobridge had failed to clear the danger from Niall Kane's free. The final score was 1-9 to 0-4.
The Magpies' final opponents will be Warrenpoint who defeated Loughinisland 8-7 in a dramatic penalty shootout after the sides had finished level on 2-12 apiece after extra-time.
Stand-in goalkeeper John Boyle was the 'Point hero after he scored three penalties and saved one. Shane Mulholland’s men also beat League champions Burren on penalties in last Monday night's quarter-final.
The final is a repeat of the 2019 decider which Kilcoo won by a point.
