Football fever has gripped the small Offaly parish of Clonbullogue ahead of this weekend’s county SFC ‘B’ semi-finals.
Remarkably, three of the four semi-finalists – Clonbullogue, Bracknagh and Walsh Island – are from the same parish, with Tubber being the odd ones out. Clonbullogue face Ciaran McManus’ Tubber in the first of the last-four ties tomorrow, and have been riding the crest of a wave since winning Offaly IFC and Leinster club JFC titles last year.
The other semi-final on Sunday pits Bracknagh – who were relegated from the top-flight last year – against traditional giants Walsh Island. Both SFC ‘B’ semi-finals will be played as part of double-headers at O’Connor Park with the Rhode v Ferbane and Tullamore v Edenderry semi-finals.
