Clare manager Brian Lohan credited his players for digging deep to grind out the result late on against Wexford in today’s All-Ireland SHC quarter-final in Thurles.

Trailing by six points, the Banner men hit 1-5 unanswered in the closing 10 minutes of regulation to secure a 1-24 to 3-14 win at Semple Stadium and book a semi-final date with Kilkenny at Croke Park in two weeks’ time.

Speaking to RTE Sport afterwards, hailed the spirit of his players for getting the job done late in the second-half.

"They really toughed it out. They [the players] were really disappointed with how they played in the first-half,” said the two-time All-Ireland winner.

"Things went against us in the second-half but we've a great bunch, with a great spirit."

On the opposition, added: "Credit to Wexford for the way they approached it. Tactically they caused us a good few problems."
